AN ANCIENT RESPONSE TO A MODERN CHALLENGE
The Church is in a time of steep decline. Memberships are dwindling, young people are departing, and donations are decreasing. If this weren’t enough, our culture is quickly and increasingly turning hostile towards the Christian faith. How do we navigate the difficulties of our present age? How do we respond to a post-Christian culture? How do we engage a society immersed in secularism with the gospel? Is there a future for the Church? In a time where Christianity is losing ground, our impulse may be to panic, give up, or lose hope. But what if this time of unbelief was actually an opportunity for renewal? What if there were a way of living that showed our neighbours the truth and beauty of our faith?
Even in these difficult times, we have a reason to be courageous.
THIS YEAR'S SPEAKER:
James has been an Associate Pastor at HCC since September 2009. He's passionate about seeing a church that is both reaching the lost and growing deeper in faith. James grew up on P.E.I. and received a BA of Bible from Maritime Christian College in 2009. In 2016 James received a Master of Arts (Religion) in Pastoral Leadership degree at MCC. He and his wife Shannon, have a son and a daughter. James hopes to see the Toronto Maple Leafs hoist the Stanley Cup in his lifetime.
